Sojourner Family Peace Center is Wisconsin’s largest nonprofit provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services, serving nearly 8,000 clients annually. For almost 50 years, Sojourner has provided an array of support aimed at helping families affected by domestic violence achieve safety, justice, and well-being. NRC’s own Carlene Julius serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors and is an active advocate on behalf of the organization.
“Be the Light” is an annual fundraiser for Sojourner Family Peace Center that raises critical money to help the nonprofit fund crisis response, healing services, and system advocacy. The gala took place at Milwaukee’s Discovery World on June 8, 2023 and the evening included a cocktail reception, dinner, personal stories from survivors, a live auction, and a mission moment.
NRC sponsored a table and was honored to hear the voices of the survivors as they shared their experiences, courage, strength, and resilience. With over 450 people in attendance, Sojourner was able to raise more than $400,000 to support their mission of safety, healing, and peace. This evening was a huge success for the group and those who work tirelessly to support and protect victims of domestic violence.
If you or someone you know suffers from domestic violence, please call Sojourner’s 24-hour domestic violence hotline at (414) 933-2722 or text them at (414) 877-8100.
