Reading the title of this blog, I imagine a closet full of network cables and devices with blinking lights, but that is not the network I want to talk about today. What I am referring to is your network of individuals and how that can improve your experience with your ERP system.
It is more challenging to tackle any task alone, and that is true as it relates to your ERP system as well. These days, the pace of change in ERP systems is greater than ever. Having a robust network of knowledgeable individuals can make the difference between having a “running” ERP system and a strong ERP system.
One of the best ways to improve your ERP network is via ERP-focused user groups. These user groups provide valuable benefits such as access to industry ERP experts from the vendor, as independent consultants and other ERP system users. There are also focused sessions and networking events where you can learn about how other organizations are utilizing their ERP systems, taking that knowledge back to your system.
Your “network” can also expand beyond your ERP. There are countless applications that are perfect complements to your ERP system, and a user group can give you an opportunity to learn more of their capabilities and how it could potentially expand the usage of your system.
Your network can also provide cost savings by allowing you to discuss your possible future direction and learn about other companies that may have already progressed down that road. This will provide you an opportunity to learn about any positives and pitfalls that were experienced.
Nearly every ERP system has a user group that puts on at least an annual conference, and many also have local or regional conferences that occur multiple times per year. Some of these conferences are vendor driven, and others are vendor independent, although often the vendors are present as exhibitors. NRC has been heavily involved in the local and national user groups for over 20 years presenting on various topics, allowing many to improve their ERP “network.”
In the current ERP landscape, building and maintaining a strong network is more than just a best practice—it’s essential. User groups, industry experts, and peer connections provide invaluable insights, cost-saving strategies, and opportunities to maximize the performance of your ERP system. At New Resources Consulting, we’ve been actively involved in ERP user groups for over 20 years, fostering the kind of interpersonal connections that drive real results. That’s why we regularly attend conferences and sponsor user groups to provide the necessary platforms for knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
If you’re planning to attend Alliance 2025 in New Orleans this March, I encourage you to stop by and connect with us. I’ll be there alongside other NRC experts, presenting practical solutions and exploring ways to help organizations like yours improve their systems and achieve operational efficiency. You can find more details about our presentations and the event here.
Don’t wait until March to start building your ERP network! Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn or reach out directly—I’d love to hear about your ERP journey and how we can strengthen your system’s performance together.
