At New Resources Consulting, giving back to the community isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we do. Through our NRC Foundation, we proudly support the causes and organizations that matter to our employees. One of those employees is Business Development Manager John Over, who is a champion of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Metro Milwaukee.
For the second year in a row, NRC signed on as a proud sponsor of Bowl for Kids’ Sake, one of BBBS’s most high-energy, feel-good fundraisers of the year. On April 3, John assembled his dream team of bowlers—Jess Harris, Lorne Tappa, and Jon Drosdick—and headed to Bowlero in Wauwatosa, WI for an afternoon of camaraderie, chaos, and a few questionable form choices.
Was the bowling perfect? Not even close.
Were strikes scored? Surprisingly, yes.
Was CEO Mark Grosskopf on hand offering unsolicited but very passionate tips from the sidelines? Absolutely. (Thanks, Mark!)
The BBBS staff were all-stars—from check-in to closing—creating an environment that was welcoming, celebratory, and full of energy. And while our bowling performance may never be televised, the purpose behind it absolutely deserves the spotlight.
“There is a quote from Audrey Hepburn that states, ‘As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands—one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.’ And I think of that quote anytime I have a chance to support a group like BBBS,” said John Over. “I’m proud of the work they do and happy to play a part in their mission.”
BBBS of Metro Milwaukee is best known for its one-to-one mentoring program, but there are many ways to support their mission—even if you’re not able to commit to being a mentor. From participating in fundraisers to attending events or simply making a donation, there are several paths to getting involved and making a meaningful difference in a child’s life. Looking ahead, BBBS is getting ready for its annual Art of Pairing event, a lively night of food, drinks, and fundraising that highlights the power of mentorship and community connection. (There are even rumors that Wisconsin’s own Charlie Berens may be in attendance… but you didn’t hear it from us.)
