New Resources Consulting (“NRC”) has officially joined the ranks of tech folks with a podcast, except this podcast is built by people who actually run IT every day. In 404: Limits Not Found, NRC’s Director of IT Chris Hippensteel sits down with colleagues and technology leaders to talk about the real decisions, trade-offs, and “wait, did that really just happen?” moments that come with modern IT.

This first episode is very much a beginning, not a grand manifesto—and that is intentional. Think of it as pulling up a chair in Chris’s office while he and Mike Doyle, NRC’s VP of Enterprise Technologies, kick off an ongoing conversation about AI, ERP, and what’s next for the people who keep systems running.

Meet Your Host: Chris Hippensteel

Chris has spent the last eight years leading IT at New Resources Consulting, where his days are split among strategy, security, and ensuring everything still works after the latest “simple change.” As Director of IT, he’s responsible for keeping NRC’s infrastructure, security, and environment running smoothly while planning for what comes next.

Outside of work, Chris builds custom motorcycles, practices American Sign Language, and loves traveling with his wife. He is no stranger to taking things apart, putting them back together, and figuring it out as he goes. That same mix of curiosity and hands-on problem-solving shows up in this podcast, as an IT leader asking the questions a lot of us have.

Episode 1: AI, ERP, and What’s Next for IT

In Episode 1, Chris talks with Mike Doyle, NRC’s VP of Enterprise Technologies, who has been with the firm for more than 18 years and has seen several waves of “this will change everything” technology come and go. Together, they view AI and enterprise systems through a practical lens: not as magic, but as the next step in a long evolution that began in the early days of the internet.

They touch on:

  • How the early web compares to today’s AI moment, and why it feels both exciting and a little unsettling
  • Where AI is already quietly showing up in everyday tools (from phones to email)
  • How AI could intersect with ERP and enterprise technologies in ways that actually help people do their jobs
  • Why security and governance can’t be an afterthought when experimentation moves faster than the rules

It’s not deep technical training or a grand AI strategy session; it’s two experienced practitioners thinking out loud about what’s coming and what to watch.

Why NRC is Starting a Podcast Now

As consultants, NRC teams spend a lot of time helping clients make sense of complex technology choices. This podcast is another way to open up that conversation—less polished slide deck, more “let’s talk through this together.” Chris’s goal is to create a space where IT leaders, aspiring technologists, and the tech-curious can hear how others are navigating similar challenges.

There will be episodes that go deeper, that get more technical, and probably a few that feel like therapy sessions for people who live in ticket queues and change windows. Episode 1 is simply the starting point.
